Our Story

Kailash Momo was founded to share the love of Tibetan and Nepalese cuisine with the local Woolwich Community and the World. The name “Kailash” comes from the Kailash mountain range in the Himalayas, which is not only a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhists, but also a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of Tibet and Nepal.

The restaurant specializes in momos, a traditional Tibetan/Nepalese dish that consists of dumplings filled with various ingredients such as Chicken, Vegetables, and Mutton. The momos at Kailash Momo are handmade daily using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and are served with our Fresh homemade Chilli Sauce.

Loved by our guests

Fresh food, warm service, and real feedback from people who visited us.

“The vibe was really nice and the food was great. The steamed momo could be improved a bit, especially the chutney. But overall, after eating here, my craving for Nepali food was satisfied—I wasn’t missing Nepal anymore.”

“A lovely spot, which I often visit. The food quality never fails to impress me and the prices are very good. I would totally recommend!”

“10/5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First time visiting and we can’t wait to return! The food was spectacular, you could taste it was all freshly made. We had the chicken Momo platter to start and then a chicken thali and a mixed meat fried rice. The Momo platter was exceptional, such a wide variety and for £25!! The curry that came with the Thali is probably the best I’ve had. We also had a side of the fried bread which was really nice and fresh (most other restaurants it is not). The staff were lovely! Incredibly friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, they really made the experience. We had underestimated the portion size of the platter and my partner couldn’t eat his fried rice so they kindly boxed it up for him to take home. We’re just disappointed we hadn’t tried it sooner!”

“Lovely, helpful staff that explain all the dishes. We had fried spicy chicken momos which were delicious. We then had a complete dish with mutton, flaked rice, soybean and potato and chicken noodles. Both were really interesting. Can't wait to go back and try some more things. Very reasonable prices too.”

“We recently visited this Nepali/Tibetan restaurant and had a lovely experience. We ordered the Nepali mutton thali, which was decent and tasted like authentic, home-cooked Nepali food. The steamed chicken momo was also decent and nicely prepared. I tried Veg Thenthuk for the first time and absolutely loved it. The broth was mild and comforting, with homemade flat noodles and fresh vegetables, very flavourful yet light. The Yellow Laphing (Tibetan street food) was also delicious, rich in flavour with a nice garlicky chilli oil kick. They also had a unique selroti that reminded me of malpua but without sugar 😁 Overall, the food felt authentic, the quality was great, and the prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a visit!”

“Went for a special lunch after accidentally stumbling on it in Google maps. We tried 3 starters 2 mains and a side. For the starters we had the mutton Choiyila (spicy goat), chicken momo, Golgappa, For the main I had the mutton curry with bread and my other half had the mutton Thali Set and a side of fried green beans. Firstly it was all lovely, but it was more food than we needed. Everything tasted amazing but by the time I got to the main I couldn't eat much more. I would not get so many dumplings unless for a bigger group so you only have 2 per person. Other than that, I can't wait to go back and try other dishes. I would certainly recommend and consider this value and quality combined. Thanks”

“We love Kailash momo! We’ve been there soooo many times or ordered takeaways soooo many times. And there’s no single time of disappointment! Our favourite are the thali sets, and green beans. The butter tea is very good too.”

“I’ve been here twice in the last month or so. Once being on my birthday and the food is so delicious! So happy I found this place, it has become a new local regular restaurant for me and my family. The food is so inexpensive and fresh. Service is great too, everyone is so friendly. I would recommend the crazy pork, the chicken curry and pretty much any variation of momo. Must try in welling and great for sharing!!”
